ST5 2EY NEWS FROM RAY The Stoke weekend was really good and I have since met up with MIKE COLE and we are planning some gigs for late September, the first of which will be in a London Club called Lady Luck, it's worth checking out their website. BRUCE BRAND will be playing drums/percussion, he is a big Mungo fan and does the artwork for amongst others, THE WHITE STRIPES and THE DARKNESS, so he has very good connections, he also plays drums for THE MASONICS, HOLLY GOLIGHTLY and HIP BONE SLIM AND THE KNEE TREMBLERS.
I did GMTV on Thursday morning and the PRS thing on Friday morning, then had to fly back Saturday for a gig. On Monday, I am in Stuttgart for PR for the Festival that I am doing in August and the Zounds compilation that is to be released at the beginning of September. I'm then doing TV on Tuesday and Wednesday and in the studio on Thursday working on what is planned for a new single to be released in late September together with another album compilation. ...AND DEREK ADDS... The PRS (Performing Rights Society) award Ray received was an Iconic Status Award, the highest accolade they can give to a song. The Zounds compilation that Ray spoke of is to be released in September. The track listing I have is; The Sanctuary compilation CD we mentioned recently is to be a double covering Ray's career from youth to the present day. It will feature missing Pye tracks, PROSPECTS theme, WIZBIT, PETER GREEN rehearsal, LEGENDS tour track, 'OH OH OH' (60's demo which became 'ROLLIN'& STROLLIN', 'FAR AWAY' and many more.
A 'LIVE IN OSLO - 1973' CD featuring BOB DAISLEY will get a fan club release, as will 'LIVE IN BULAWAYO - 1978'.
Regarding the archive CD-rom/CD/DVD, it is the intention to make everything available in a box set. It will feature songs, videos, live footage, TV shows, news cuttings, interviews, etc, etc, etc. It is a major task and any fan that has any footage, cuttings, etc - can they please inform me with a description as we would love to add it. We can pay postage and provide a thank you gift for all items provided. |
