ORIGINAL BAND TO RE-FORM??? Rumours abound that the original MUNGO JERRY band - RAY DORSET, PAUL KING, COLIN EARL & MIKE COLE - are planning to get together again after 36 years. It was hoped that they would be on the bill at this years Guil-fest but they just missed out. More news when I have it... |
BYRON CONTOSTAVLOS DIES
|
I have learned this week that MUNGO JERRY's former bass player BYRON CONTOSTAVLOS has died suddenly. Byron played bass in the band during the 90's, along with his brother Plato, and they both played on the CANDY DREAMS album. I remember him personally from the legendary gig at The Archer in Newcastle in 1996 and in particular his sense of humour. Condolences from all at MUNGOMANIA to his family. |

| The UK line-up of MUNGO JERRY is now ALAN JOHNSON, who Ray has worked with on and off for nearly twenty years, TOBY HOUNSHAM on keyboards, JOHN PLAYLE on bass and MARK DAVID on drums, they are all great guys and great musicians and they will form the basis of the band that records the (long in the making) 'EMPERORS NEW CLOTHES' album.
The official release of 'NAKED FROM THE HEART' grows closer, BRUCE BRAND has finished the artwork which looks brilliant, and Ray has decided to record something like five alternative tracks for the 'COOL JESUS' album with a view to replacing some of the jug band numbers already recorded. After a poor start on the last sessions, the new MUNGO JERRY BLUESBAND recordings are coming on very well, and pose a few surprises too. All the tracks will be made available for download and preview before official release. Ray has been disscussing the possibillities of doing a show with a combination of all of the line-ups, plus PAUL KING who has now returned to live in the Sunbury-On-Thames area after many years dwelling in Cornwall. The official PAUL KING site is located at www.paulking.info | SKELETON CREW - 'LIVE AT THE PHOENIX' PAUL KING's latest CD - SKELETON CREW 'LIVE AT THE PHOENIX', will be available from the shop from Monday 5th February, priced at £10 inc P & P.
