DEREK WADESON WRITES... The Mungo Jerry Shop has taken a couple of years of development to finally arrive, but at long last it’s here and we feel worth the wait. For a band that started in 1970 (and even before if RAY DORSET’s long and varied overall career is taken into account) to still be alive an’ kickin’ and embracing modern technology in 2006; it is a testament to the MUNGO main man himself, and long may it continue. RAY DORSET has had a major say in the setting up of this exciting project and listed below are some of its main aims. At the moment the most exciting features will be the COMING SOON section which will list all the products in the pipeline and also the mp3’s section which will allow fans to download a vast range of songs and even some of which that are not yet available as CD’s in the COMING SON section. RAY DORSET WRITES...Sorry but owing to a clerical error my holiday in Mexico begins on the day that I should play Mr Kyps in Parkstone, 30th September, however, I will now be playing there, in The Round, at a special price of only £5.00, and it will be a special night, as MIKE COLE will be joining me, together with ALAN JOHNSON and probably BRUCE 'BASH' BRAND on drums, and we expect to be playing some stuff from the 'NAKED FROM THE HEART' album, on Wednesday 22nd November. The album is pencilled in for release in Germany sometime in October on Spectre Media, other territories 2007. We started work on the recording of the new MUNGO JERRY BLUESBAND album and begin again in the studio in November as there is now more pre-production work being done for the recordings. The title for the album will be, 'WHEN SHE COMES, SHE RUNS ALL OVER ME'. The titles on the album are all RAY DORSET compositions except for one, and most of them are new songs. The MUNGO JERRY 'COCKTAIL' album is just about ready for manufacture, this is a compilation with a very informative inlay, and contains songs from the early seventies up to the 'ADULTS ONLY' album plus the radio mix of 'WE GOTTA GET OUT OF THE ARMY'. An in-depth interview with RAY DORSET, plus MUNGO JERRY video clips is to be released on DVD on Voiceprint, all titles are now ready except that it has been decided to make an unplugged solo version of 'YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE IN THE ARMY TO FIGHT IN THE WAR' for inclusion. We have to thank Rob for his work on getting the Sanctuary compilation pictures sorted, also Derek, Alan and John van der Kiste, for their help with the sleeve notes. The collection is dedicated to DICK HOW, my great friend and guitarist with my first bands, who passed away in January. We would like information, whereabouts, contacts to all former MJ musicians, roadies, recording engineers and assistants etc. and also from any one that played in bands, promoted, managed, worked with, RAY DORSET at any time in the past. COOL JESUS Yet another MUNGO JERRY album has been completed and is now awaiting release. Recorded by RAY DORSET with THE GOODTIME GAMBLERS SKIFFLE GROUP, you can take my word that it is another gem and Ray is toying with the idea of releasing it together with the 'NAKED FROM THE HEART' album, that is in the same box but with separate sleeves and insert. The album will be issued as a MUNGO JERRY album, and not as MUNGO JERRY and THE GOODTIME GAMBLERS SKIFFLE GROUP as previously stated. Sanctuary Music have confirmed that the twin 2 CD sets of Rarities;RAY DORSET - 'GONNA BOP'TIL I DROP' and PAUL KING - 'WIND OF CHANGE' is now scheduled for release on the 13th of November - frustrating I know, but we have waited for so long already, a couple more weeks shouldn't make much difference. All artwork and informative booklets have been completed. Ray had earlier commented, "There has been some problems with the quality of the old recordings that will be used for the Sanctuary compilation and I'm waiting for the tracks to be upgraded. We have all the pictures for the sleeve and we are to send them together with the text to JO MIROWSKY at Mainartery. Jo was the art director when I was at Polydor and he did all of the Polydor albums that I recorded for them". In the meantime, all cheques are still being held at Derek's end and credit card details are on file until release date, so you should not have been charged for this. The only exception is to fans that ordered other goods at the same time as the rarities CD’s.
