(Dave Harris told us about Jerry and Neil, "good horn players...they were both on stage with THE FABULOUS WAILERS last evening.
Glenna and myself went to the concert, it was really good".

Finally got to see Ray in person! Thanks to a friend who heard about the date & remembered how much I like MUNGO music, we caught Ray's show at the Salmon Days Festival in Issaquah. What a pleasure! Even without taking the limited practice time into consideration, the music was very well done; given the limited opportunity for Ray to practice with the backing band - BLACK VELVET, DON WILSON (THE VENTURES), ALAN WHITE (YES) and THE VENTURESTTES - , it was outstanding! In addition, I heard that Ray was really excellent for the musicians to work with. And it was really nice to meet Ray. He couldn't have been more pleasant to talk with, and I really enjoyed getting to thank him for all the pleasure his & his band-mates' music has given us. Somebody even got a good snapshot of us together, which will be a nice memento. All-in-all, a fine occasion!

P.S - There was one unfortunate thing about the show: That there was not a lot of time for Ray to prepare with the band, so he was not able to perform 'LADY ROSE', 'MIGHTY MAN', 'LANA', 'MY GIRL & ME', etc. But it was still a lot of fun, and 'OPEN UP' & 'BABY JUMP', and of course 'IN THE SUMMERTIME' were splendid!

Greetings Ray,

It was a great pleasure to catch your performance and have a chance to chat with you at the Salmon Days festival. As we discussed, my friends, family and I have enjoyed your music for many years. In fact, one of the first singles I ever owned was 'IN THE SUMMERTIME' b/w 'MIGHTY MAN' on Janus Records. That led to the album 'MUNGO JERRY' (Janus), and it's continued ever since! But I had never had an opportunity to see you in person, so it was a true joy when I finally got to see a live performance. And it made the music even more enjoyable when you turned out to be not only a true professional (as expected), but a most congenial fellow (as hoped)!

So, once again, I'd like to thank you (and PAUL, COLIN, JOE, MIKE and...) for all the pleasure your music has provided us over the decades.

Best regards, and keep on rockin', Dave Maness.

Thanks to Dave Maness, Dave Harris and Tim Ogard for their photographs and contributions.
